SCHOOL LIBRARY

The School Library: A Gateway to Knowledge and Character

Motto: High Moral Standards and Academic Excellence

At the Ladybird Group of Schools, we believe that the library is the heart of our academic community. It is a sanctuary for quiet study, a hub for research, and a world of imagination for our students across all levels—from our youngest Early Years learners to our graduating High School seniors.

Our library is more than just a collection of books; it is a space designed to nurture the "Academic Excellence" promised in our motto by providing students with the resources they need to excel in their curriculum and beyond.

A Resource for Every Level

We have carefully curated our collection to support the specific needs of each section of our school:

1. The Early Years Reading Corner

For our Pre-Nursery and Nursery pupils, we offer a vibrant selection of picture books, phonics readers, and touch-and-feel books. This comfortable space is designed to make a child's first encounter with stories a magical one, fostering a lifelong love for reading from the very start.

2. The Primary Discovery Section

As our students transition into Grade 1 through Grade 6, they gain access to a wide range of fiction and non-fiction titles. Here, students can explore subjects like history, science, and geography in depth, helping them develop the curiosity and research skills needed for their academic journey.

3. The Secondary and High School Research Hub

For our older students in the Secondary and High School sections, the library provides specialized academic texts that align with their chosen series (Arts and Sciences). Whether a student is researching S1 Physics or A5 Philosophy, they will find the reference materials and quiet environment necessary for advanced study and GCE preparation.

Fostering High Moral Standards

Our library also plays a key role in the moral development of our students. Through a wide selection of biographies, ethical literature, and history books, students learn about the lives of great leaders and the values of integrity, perseverance, and honesty.

The library environment itself teaches important life lessons:

  • Respect for Shared Resources: Learning to care for books and return them on time for others to enjoy.

  • Self-Discipline: Maintaining a quiet environment for the benefit of fellow researchers.

  • Integrity: Following proper research ethics and academic honesty.
